100th Day Celebration

100th Day Celebration

It's so wonderful to receive customer photos and learn that our decals were part of a special event or celebration. This customer came to us with a pretty straight-forward request... our world map but GIANT (almost 7 feet long), and a tight turn-around. The rush wasn't a problem and the larger size was just a matter of a slightly more difficult installation with some additional instructions.

When we received the customer photos back, we got a wonderful opportunity to learn about Korean history. In the Korean culture, the 100th day after a child's birth (called "Baek-il") is a significant milestone. Long ago in Korea, childhood diseases were common and the survival rate for newborn babies was very low. To protect their babies, parents would keep their babies indoors until the 100th day after birth. On that 100th day, the family would pray and give food offerings to thank the Shaman spirit of childbirth. In the modern day, this milestone is now celebrated as a congratulation for the parents and family.

And based on the decorations, we'd say this celebration was an amazing one!
